Kayley Joslyn, MOT, OTR/L Co-Owner of Playhaus Pediatric Therapy

Kayley is the co-owner and co-founder of Playhaus Pediatric Therapy, as well as a practicing pediatric clinician. She grew up in Houston, Texas, earned her bachelor’s degree in Community Health from Texas A&M University (Whoop!) in College Station, and completed her master’s degree in Occupational Therapy at the University of St. Augustine in Austin. Kayley is passionate about expanding access to occupational therapy services in underserved areas, which inspired her to help create Playhaus Pediatric Therapy.


Her passion for pediatric occupational therapy began while volunteering for five years at a therapeutic riding facility, where she taught children of all abilities how to ride horses while incorporating therapeutic strategies (hippotherapy).


Since becoming a licensed pediatric occupational therapist in 2020, Kayley has gained experience in hospitals, hand clinics, skilled nursing facilities, and home health settings. She is committed to staying current with evidence-based practices and has advanced training in:


  • Torticollis and Plagiocephaly: Baby Begin, the Helmet Alternative
  • DIR Floortime: Developmental, Individual-Differences, and Relationships-based model of communication with a neuroaffirming approach
  • GrowNOW Internal Language Model for ADHD and executive functioning
  • Sensory Integration
  • Reflex Integration
     

Kayley and her husband, Jeff, live in New Braunfels with their son, James, and their dog, Beau. She enjoys reading, crafting, and spending time outdoors with her family. Through Playhaus Pediatric Therapy, Kayley hopes to create an engaging and supportive environment that helps children build independence in their natural settings while ensuring families have access to high-quality occupational therapy services.

Christine Smillie, MOT, OTR/L Co-Owner of Playhaus Pediatric Therapy

Christine is the co-owner and co-founder of Playhaus Pediatric Therapy, as well as a practicing pediatric clinician. She helped build the clinic to provide an environment that is both engaging and challenging, empowering children to gain independence in every aspect of their lives.


Christine grew up in Wellington, Ohio, and earned both her bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences and her master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of Findlay in Findlay, Ohio. Throughout her career, she has lived and practiced occupational therapy in Arizona, Florida, and Texas.


Practicing since 2012, Christine has gained extensive experience in hospitals, trauma centers, outpatient clinics, and home health settings. She is committed to staying up to date with evidence-based practices, has served as a Level I & II clinical instructor for occupational therapy students, and has advanced training in:


  • Sensory Integration: H.O.P.E. Method by Julia Harper and Ayres Sensory Integration (CLASI-CASI)
  • Pelvic Floor Therapy: Treatment for toilet training challenges, constipation, and leakage
  • SOS Approach to Feeding Level 1: Treatment for feeding challenges
  • DIR Floortime: Developmental, Individual-Differences, and Relationships-based model of communication with a neuroaffirming approach
  • Astronaut Training: Treatment for vestibular and ocular challenges
  • Integrated Listening Systems (ILS): Treatment for auditory processing and sensitivity challenges
  • Reflex Integration
     

Christine and her husband, Wyatt, live in New Braunfels with their two children, Leah and Maverick. She enjoys fitness, reading, and spending time outdoors with her family. Her career goal is to expand access to pediatric therapy services while fostering an engaging, growth-focused workplace for therapists.

Elizabeth (Liz) Gomez, CCC-SLP, Feeding Specialist

Elizabeth “Liz” is a practicing bilingual speech-language pathologist (SLP) with over 12 years of experience. She grew up in South Texas and earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.


Liz is passionate about serving the bilingual community and is dedicated to educating and empowering families to feel confident in supporting their child’s speech, language, and feeding goals.


Since beginning her career in 2011, Liz has gained experience in hospitals, outpatient clinics, early intervention, and home health settings. She is committed to staying current with evidence-based practices and has advanced training in:


  • SOS Approach to Feeding Level 1
  • Beckman Oral Motor Protocol Training
  • Guardian Way Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES)
  • Dynamic Temporal and Tactile Cueing
  • Kaufman Speech to Language Apraxia Training
     

Liz lives in New Braunfels and enjoys spending time outdoors, relaxing at the spa, and thrifting. Her career goals include mentoring other therapists to foster collaborative relationships with colleagues and families while expanding access to evidence-based care in underserved communities.

Megan Reed, CCC-SLP, Language Specialist

Megan Reed is a pediatric speech-language pathologist originally from Maryland. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Hearing and Speech Sciences from the University of Maryland, College Park, in 2012, and her Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from Loyola University Maryland in 2014.


Megan has worked with the early intervention population since 2010 and also has experience in voice, audiology, and adult and geriatric care, including brain injury, stroke, and swallowing disorders.


Her passion lies in early intervention—helping young children and their families grow, develop, and thrive to their fullest potential. Megan works with children presenting with a variety of needs, including developmental language delays, phonological disorders, apraxia, Autism Spectrum Disorders, and Down syndrome. She believes that children learn best through play and in supportive, nurturing environments, which she strives to provide in each therapy session.


Megan lives in New Braunfels and enjoys spending her free time with her husband, their 3-year-old son, family, friends, and their two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels.

Caitlyn Harris, MOT, OT/L

 Caitlyn is a licensed occupational therapist who brings passion, energy, and a deep commitment to helping children thrive. Originally from Omaha, Nebraska, she earned both her Bachelor of Science in Rehabilitative Sciences and her Master’s in Occupational Therapy from the College of Saint Mary.


Caitlyn has experience in a variety of settings, including outpatient pediatrics, aquatic therapy, hospitals, and inpatient rehabilitation centers. She is especially passionate about mentoring students and supporting new professionals entering the field, with experience as a Level II clinical instructor.


Now proud to call Texas home, Caitlyn is excited to be part of the Playhaus team. She lives in New Braunfels with her husband, three dogs, and one cat. In her free time, she enjoys singing, reading, and paddleboarding. 

Yesenia Yee, SLPA

Yesenia Yee is a licensed speech-language pathology assistant (SLPA). She earned her bachelor’s degree in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences from the University of Arizona in 2018 and her master’s degree in Early Childhood and Special Education from Grand Canyon University in 2021.


Yesenia has seven years of experience as a bilingual SLPA, including nearly six years in a pediatric clinic in Arizona. Before joining Playhaus, she worked in home health in New Braunfels, primarily serving Spanish-speaking children and families.


Her connection to speech and language is personal—Yesenia received speech therapy herself in elementary school, an experience that left a lasting impact and inspired her to give back to her community. She strongly believes that every child deserves to have a voice.

Yesenia has advanced training and experience in:


  • Literacy & language disorders
  • Autism Spectrum Disorders
  • Childhood apraxia of speech
  • Augmentative and alternative communication (AAC)
  • Speech disorders and sound production
  • Organizing and leading social skills groups targeting pragmatic skills
     

Yesenia lives in Seguin, Texas, with her husband, daughter, and two Shih Tzus.

Kaislin Del Toro, Administrative Assistant

 Kaislin was born and raised in Texas and has spent the past few years working with children. She also brings valuable experience as a customer service representative, which helps her provide warm, supportive, and efficient assistance to our families. She loves working with children and is eager to help every family feel welcome and cared for at Playhaus Pediatric Therapy.
